Range hoods and exhaust fans in University Park homes
Range hoods are the appliance people forget until the smoke alarm goes off. Grease filters that never get cleaned make the fan work harder and pull less, and eventually the motor gives out. Lights fail at the socket or the driver. Touch controls fail at the board. Most of it is repairable without touching the duct. Clean the metal filters in the dishwasher every month or two and the motor will thank you.
Water filters
Fridge water filters are rated for about six months. An old filter slows the flow enough to shrink the ice cubes and starve the ice maker. Write the install date on the filter with a marker so you know when it's due.

How it goes
The tech shows up, listens to what you've noticed, and tests the parts that could cause it. Then you hear what's wrong and what it costs to fix. Say yes and the $150 service call comes off. Say no and that's the end of it. Repairs carry 90 days on parts and labor.
Before you book in University Park
- Reset the outlet and breaker. GFCI outlets in garages and kitchens trip more than people expect.
- Photograph the model sticker. Text it to us so the tech can check parts.
- Note any code on the display. Even a blinking light pattern helps.
- Look at the water or gas valve. Half-closed valves fake a lot of failures.
Next door
US 75 and the Dallas North Tollway are the main routes into University Park, and that's how our route usually comes in. Plenty of folks give directions from SMU. Elsewhere in Dallas County, we also cover Highland Park, Dallas, Addison and Richardson.
Just outside University Park? These pages cover the neighbors:
Use rinse aid
Rinse aid helps water sheet off dishes so they dry. It matters even more on dishwashers that dry by condensation.
Load from the inside out
Face dirty sides toward the center of the dishwasher and keep tall pans from blocking the spray arms.
Common questions
Can you repair my oven before a holiday?
Call or text as soon as it starts acting up. Waiting until the week of a holiday is the hard way.
Why does my fridge make ice but not water?
The ice side and the water side share a valve but not a path. A frozen door line is a common cause.
Do you work in Dallas County outside University Park?
We do. Highland Park, Dallas and the rest of Dallas County are all in our area.
Do you work on stacked washers and dryers?
Yes. They take a little longer because the dryer sometimes has to come off first.
How far is University Park from your base?
We're based in Dallas, and University Park is well within the seven counties we cover. The service call doesn't change with distance.
