By symptom

What's your stove doing?

Burner clicks but won't light

Usually behind it
A wet or cracked spark igniter, a burner cap sitting crooked, or burner ports clogged with boil-over.
Check first
After a boil-over, give the burner a few hours to dry out. Seat the cap flat on the base so the flame can travel around it.
What we do
We clean the ports, replace the igniter, and check the spark module.

Clicking that won't stop

Usually behind it
A spill has shorted a spark switch behind a knob, or the spark module has failed.
Check first
Pull the knobs and let the area dry out. If it stops when dry, a switch is getting wet.
What we do
We replace the shorted switch or the module.

Coil element dead

Usually behind it
The element itself, a burned receptacle it plugs into, or the infinite switch that controls it.
Check first
Swap the dead element with a same-size one that works. If the swap heats, you need a new element.
What we do
We replace the element, receptacle or switch and check the wiring for heat damage.

Glass-top element won't heat, or stays on high

Usually behind it
A failed radiant element, a limiter, or an infinite switch stuck closed.
Check first
Watch whether the element glows at all, and whether it cycles on and off on medium.
What we do
We replace the element or switch. A cracked glass top is replaceable too, and we'll price it.

Induction zone won't heat or doesn't see the pan

Usually behind it
The pan isn't magnetic, the cooling fan has failed, or a power board is bad.
Check first
Hold a magnet to the bottom of the pan. If it doesn't stick, the pan won't work on induction.
What we do
We check the fans, sensors and boards and replace the failed part.

Smell of gas

Usually behind it
A burner left on, a loose connection, or a leak in the supply line or valve.
Check first
Don't flip switches or try to find it. Leave, then call your gas utility. For most of DFW that's Atmos Energy.
What we do
Once the gas company has cleared it, we can repair valves, burners and controls.

Gas, electric, induction

Which kind you have changes the repair

Gas ranges fail at the igniters, spark switches and valves. Electric coil tops are the simplest of all to repair. Smooth glass tops hide radiant elements under the glass. Induction cooktops use magnets and electronics, so most repairs there are boards, fans or sensors. Dual-fuel ranges put a gas cooktop on an electric oven, so they can have both kinds of problems at once.

Fix or replace?

Igniters, spark switches, elements, infinite switches and burner parts are inexpensive, and repairing them is almost always the right move.

A cracked glass top or an induction power board costs more. The tech prices it and you decide.

Types we work on: Gas, electric coil, smooth glass, induction, dual-fuel and pro-style ranges and rangetops, and built-in cooktops.

Questions

Stove & cooktop repair questions

Do you repair pro-style ranges?

Yes, including Wolf, Viking and Thermador. Their burners and igniters are different from standard ranges, so give us the model number when you book.

Can I use the other burners while one is broken?

If the problem is one element or igniter and nothing smells or sparks, generally yes. If anything smells like gas or burning wire, stop.

Why does my Thermador keep clicking?

Moisture on the burners or switches is the usual cause. It often stops once things dry out. If it doesn't, a switch or the spark module needs replacing.

Do you repair the glass on a cooktop?

We replace cracked glass tops when the part is available for your model.

What does the warranty cover?

Parts and labor, 90 days.
