Dishwasher Repair in Dallas–Fort Worth

Most dishwasher calls come down to water that won't drain, dishes that come out dirty, or water where it shouldn't be. Start with the symptom and the check. Plenty of these get solved before we ever leave the shop.

By symptom

What's your dishwasher doing?

Water sitting in the bottom

Usually behind it
A clogged filter, a failed drain pump, or a blocked air gap or drain hose. If the garbage disposal was just replaced, the knockout plug in the disposal inlet may still be in place.
Check first
Twist out the filter under the bottom spray arm and rinse it. Run the disposal for a few seconds before starting the dishwasher.
What we do
We clear the drain path, test the pump and check valve, and replace what's failed.

Dishes come out dirty or gritty

Usually behind it
A clogged filter or spray arm holes, water that isn't hot enough, or a weak wash motor.
Check first
Run the kitchen tap until it's hot before you start a cycle. Remove both spray arms and poke the jets open with a toothpick.
What we do
We test the wash motor, heater and water temperature, and check the inlet valve fill.

Leaking onto the floor

Usually behind it
A worn door gasket, a loose inlet fitting under the unit, a cracked sump, or dish soap used by mistake.
Check first
Look under the kickplate with a flashlight while it fills. Make sure the dishwasher is level so water doesn't run to the door.
What we do
We replace gaskets, fittings or the sump seal and test the leak sensor if your model has one.

Won't start

Usually behind it
A worn door latch or latch switch, the control lock turned on, a blown thermal fuse or a failed control board.
Check first
Look for a lock icon on the panel. On many models you hold a button for three seconds to turn it off.
What we do
We test the latch, fuse and board and replace the part that's failed.

Dishes don't dry

Usually behind it
An empty rinse aid dispenser, a failed heating element, or a vent fan that quit. Some brands, Bosch among them, dry by condensation, so plastic always comes out a little wet.
Check first
Fill the rinse aid and use the heated dry setting for a few loads.
What we do
We test the element and fan and check the rinse aid dispenser.

Grinding or loud humming

Usually behind it
Broken glass or a fruit pit in the pump area, a failing wash pump, or a spray arm hitting a tall pan.
Check first
Pull the filter and look for anything hard in the sump.
What we do
We clear the sump and replace the pump or motor if the bearings are worn.

Run it right

Three habits that prevent repeat calls

Scrape plates, but don't pre-rinse them clean. The detergent needs something to work on. Clean the filter once a month. Use rinse aid, especially if your water leaves white spots. None of that fixes a broken part, but it keeps a fixed dishwasher from coming right back to the same problem.

Fix or replace?

Drain pumps, latches, inlet valves, heating elements and gaskets are all repairs worth making on a dishwasher of reasonable age.

A cracked tub or a failed control board on a basic, older model may not be. You get the price before we order anything and decide from there.

Types we work on: Built-in, drawer-style and panel-ready dishwashers, plus portable units.

Questions

Dishwasher repair questions

Why does my dishwasher smell?

Food in the filter and a drain that's slow. Clean the filter, run the disposal, and run a hot empty cycle. If it keeps smelling, the drain path needs a look.

Is a Bosch E15 or E24 code serious?

E15 means water in the base pan, so there's a leak somewhere. E24 points to a drain problem. Both are usually fixable. Shut off the water to the dishwasher if you see E15.

Why won't it drain after a new disposal went in?

New disposals come with a plastic knockout plug in the dishwasher inlet. If nobody punched it out, the dishwasher has nowhere to drain. It's a quick fix once it's found.

Do you work on panel-ready dishwashers?

Yes. They take a bit longer to pull because of the custom front, and we're careful with the panel.

How long is the warranty?

90 days on the parts we install and the labor.
